| History
: At the end of 1998, a group of neighbours decided to
get together once every so often to sample a fine malt
whisky. Thus the Thrapston Whisky Appreciation &
Tasting Society (aka TWATS) was formed. |
 |
 |
The
aim of this "society" is two-fold. First and
foremost, it is to taste and appreciate as many of the
different malts as possible. Secondly, it provides a
forum where we can get together as friends on a regular
basis. |
| So
far, we have managed as a society to try several
different malts to varying degrees of satisfaction.
Included in the tasting gallery are some personal stock
selections which have not yet made it to the society
meetings, but I am sure will get there soon.. |
 |
 |
These
"meetings" that I have mentioned always start
off civilised. However, the whisky is just a precursor to
the evenings entertainment. On a normal night, the whisky
is always the first to go, appreciated right down to the
last drop . (TWATS motto is never to leave a bottle until
it is empty.) The gap in time is then filled with several
bottles of good red wine. |
| There
is one thing about our society that I must point out.
Although we truly do appreciate the quality of a good
single malt, it is as much the ambience and bonhomie of
the company you are in that contributes to the enjoyment,
as it is the malt itself. |
